The authorities will tighten security at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) after a “disappointing” breach which allowed two men to put firearms in the stadium during an Australian rules of the rules.

The police said they found weapons on a 21 -year -old man and a 27 -year -old man after the couple refused to leave the MCG on their behavior when they were in the crowd of 82,058 for the match between Collingwood and Carlton.

Security has failed not to enter despite the use of screening units

The men were arrested and later accused of possession of firearms and other offenses.

The officials said that the weapons had been recovered by screening units when the men entered the stadium, but that the security personnel had failed to carry out an in -depth search for follow -up.

“Consequently, we will increase the extent of the secondary manual security process and customers can undergo slight delays when they are attending to come,” MCG CEO, Stuart Fox, said in a press release.

“We will continue to work closely with the Victoria police, AFL and our security provider in the execution of MCG security procedures.”

The identity of armed men revealed

AFL CEO Andrew Dillon described the “extremely disappointing” incident.

“More than 1.2 million fans have attended football so far this season and we will work closely with the authorities to ensure that matches and sites continue to be a safe and welcoming place for all,” said Dillon in a statement.

Dillon added that the two men would receive life prohibitions to attend the AFL matches.

The two men were identified as Omar Salman, 21, and Mohamad Noori, 27, by the Guardian. According to a report in NightNoori, originally from the suburbs of Broadmeadows in Melbourne, “had four arrest warrants and had 11 judicial questions in progress”.
