As it descended a steep grade, the UTV flipped over and hit a tree, officials said.
Two Massachusetts men were seriously injured in a utility vehicle (UTV) crash in Berlin, New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game.
Dezheng Hong, 26, of Quincy, was the passenger in a rented UTV driven by Hanyu Li, 23, of Boston, on the Brook Road Trail in Jericho Mountain State Park, officials said.
Li and Hong’s UTV was second in a group of three UTVs descending a steep grade, officials said. While driving, Li over-corrected the UTV to avoid the side of the trail, causing the vehicle to flip several times and hit a tree, officials said.
The men were taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, authorities said. They were wearing their seat belts and proper gear at the time of the crash, authorities said.
Speed and inexperience were the main causes of the crash, authorities said.
