Two people were killed in a tragic accident at the “ax ceremony” music festival held on April 5 (local time) at the Bicentenario parque in Mexico City, where the K-Pop TXT group (Tomorrow X Ensemble) was one of the artists.
According to Mexico City officials, a gust of sudden wind caused a collapse of a metal crane structure around 5.30 p.m., fatally injuring two individuals. Despite emergency treatment on the scene and immediate transport in the hospital, the two victims – identified later as photographers – died of their injuries.
The local government has since launched an investigation into the cause and responsibility for the accident. After the incident, the rest of the festival was canceled.
TXT, which has become the first K-Pop group to perform at the festival, expressed condolences via their official X account (formerly Twitter): “We express our deepest condolences for the tragic accident that occurred during the festival. We send our sincere sympathy to the victims, their families, their loved ones and colleagues during this difficult period. ”
