Two injured in separate shootings in Oakland, hours apart

OAKLAND — Two men were shot within two hours Sunday night and early Monday in different neighborhoods in East Oakland, authorities said.

Both men were in stable condition.

The shootings are not believed to be related at this time, authorities said.

Around 12:37 a.m. Monday, a 38-year-old man was shot multiple times while outside in the 1900 block of 73rd Avenue.

Police, responding to gunshot detection system alerts, found the man on the sidewalk. He was transported from the scene by ambulance to a hospital.

Police believe multiple shooters were involved and fled in a vehicle after the shooting. A motive has not yet been determined and no arrests have been made.

Shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday, an 18-year-old Oakland man was shot once while sitting in a parked vehicle in the 1800 block of 105th Avenue, police said.

Two other people inside the vehicle were not injured.

Police believe the shooter was in a vehicle that stopped alongside the victim’s vehicle, who then fled the scene after the shooting.

A motive is under investigation. No arrests have been announced.
