Two people died and eight injured after a terrorist opened fire in downtown Tel Aviv before fleeing on foot, police said.
The attack took place at several locations along Dizengoff Street, one of Tel Aviv’s busiest streets filled with bars and restaurants, causing people to flee for their lives.
“A terrorist opened fire at close range and then fled on foot. Several people are injured,” police spokesman Eli Levy told Channel 13 TV.
Footage of the attack shows panicked people and police sirens as first responders watch the scene, as Israeli media reports the shooting took place at various locations in the city center.
It comes at a time of heightened tensions after a series of attacks by Palestinian terrorists killed 11 people ahead of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, which began nearly a week ago.
