Two British deputies denied the entry into Israel – Israel News

Two British deputies, Yuan Yang and Abtisam Mohamed, were denied the entry into Israel on Saturday, after an investigation would have revealed that the two wanted to enter the country to document the activities of the security forces and spread anti-Israeli hatred, announced the population and the immigration authority of Israel.

The two parliamentarians landed at Ben -Gurion airport at 2:30 p.m. Saturday after flying from Luton with their two employees.

At the security airport, passengers said they were part of an official delegation visiting Israel on behalf of the British Parliament.

However, the population and the immigration authority said it was false because no official in Israel had approved the arrival of the delegation.

During the interrogation, the passengers would have revealed that the aim of their arrival was to “document the security forces and spread the speech of hatred against Israel”.

Consequently, the Minister of the Interior, Moshe Arbel, decided to refuse entry into the four and then ordered their withdrawal from Israel.

However, on Saturday evening, the British Foreign Minister David Lammy confirmed that it was indeed a parliamentary delegation. “It is unacceptable, counterproductive and deeply concerning that two British deputies on a parliamentary delegation in Israel have been detained and refused the entry by the Israeli authorities.”

“I clearly indicated to my Israeli government counterparts that it is not a way to treat British parliamentarians, and we were in contact with the two deputies this evening to offer our support.”

Who are the deputies?

Abitsam Mohamed was born in Yemen and is the first Arab woman to be elected British, and the very first Yemeni British MP. She is currently a Labor MP for Sheffield Central.

Mohamed previously called both for a cease-fire in Gaza and the return of Israeli hostages, praising the “long expected” return of Emily Damari and two other captives of Gaza on January 19. In his acceptance speech in July 2024, Mohamed said: “I will use my voice to defend peace, coexistence in the region, for an immediate cease-fire, for the release of hostages on all sides, for the recognition of Palestine.”

However, in a chamber of municipalities of April 2, 2025, she accused Israel of ethnic cleaning and of continuing the destruction of Gaza.

“On March 30, the first day of Eid, the Israeli attacks against Gaza killed dozens of Palestinians, adding to the number of deaths since Israel violated the cease-fire agreement. Israel is now promulgating the greatest forced deactivation, commanding hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from Rafah.

“How will it end? Israel cannot and will not stop. Is the objective of the complete destruction of Gaza? We testify now. Is the objective of the permanent occupation of the two-state solution? Are: War crimes and crimes against humanity?”

Yuan Yang is a British Labor MP for Earley and Woodley. She is also the first British citizen of Chinese origin to be elected to the British Parliament.

On March 31, she posted on her official Facebook page saying “Eid Mubarak! Next week, I will visit the West Bank as part of a parliamentary delegation, and this year, I know that many will spend AID by thinking of those who are not able to celebrate like us.”

In an interview in February with LBC on March 28, she spoke of the importance of UNRWA recognition of the Palestinian refugee status saying that this allows them to “right to return”.

“Israel has restarted bombing, killing even more Palestinians, including women and children,” she said.

In a speech from January 7 to Parliament, she called for sanctions against Israeli politicians Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich to “support illegal resettlement in northern Gaza”.

She added that “although we entered a new year, the horror in Gaza continues”, and called for more action against Israel.

Former journalist, her official website says she is “attached to transparency and responsibility”.

Previous prohibitions of politicians

On February 24, the MK Arbel prohibited the French-Palestinian politician Rima Hassan from entering Israel because of her participation in initiatives aimed at boycotting Israel and his undergoing the legitimacy of the Jewish state.

Hassan was denied the entry into Israel to Ben -Gurion airport alongside other members of an official delegation from the European Parliament. She was to visit the West Bank on a trip which would have received the prior approval of the Israeli authorities.

The Minister of the Diaspora, Amichai Chikli, who urged Arbel to arouse the prohibition, said: “Israel is not obliged to allow the entry of an official representative of a foreign country if he engages in the boycott and undermines his legitimacy”.
