Two Americans die rock climbing on Spanish island

Two American men fell to their deaths as they scaled oceanfront cliffs on an island off the coast of Spain this week, according to a report.

The unidentified duo, 25 and 35, fell from rocks along the coast of Mallorca on Tuesday, The Guardian reported.

Tourists had traveled to the Spanish island from Barcelona for a day of climbing, according to the report.

Swimmers nearby spotted one of the men’s bodies floating in the water and notified authorities, according to the report.

“A local rescuer and swimmers nearby provided first aid but could not resuscitate him,” said a spokesperson for the Guardia Civil in Mallorca.

“Then another body was spotted closer to the cave. The maritime rescue service arrived but there was nothing more to do, ”said the spokesperson.
