The digital collectibles craze is growing at a rapid pace. Celebrities, corporations, artists and more are minting and selling their own non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Amid this craze, Twitter announced a new feature allowing users of its subscription service to showcase their own NFTs. Twitter Blue subscribers can now set their display images as any of the NFTs they own.
NFTs are distinctive digital collectibles. NFTs can include various elements such as artwork, assets, images, songs, etc. All of these collectibles are then stored with proof of ownership which is stored on a blockchain (a publicly available digital database), which together includes the NFT. Since an NFT is stored on the blockchain, information about its ownership and history is readily available through the blockchain ledger.
What is an NFT profile picture?
Twitter users can show their NFTs to individuals through the social media platform. Twitter’s new feature will let you select static NFT images associated with their portfolio which they can then display as a hex profile picture.
Here’s how to set an NFT as a Twitter profile picture
Users will first need to temporarily connect their Twitter accounts to their crypto wallets containing the NFTs they want to use as profile pictures. When the wallet is connected, Twitter generates a verification request message to the specified wallet address. Users will be prompted to complete a signature request with their Twitter ID.
Users will then be able to select from NFTs associated with their crypto wallet to add to Twitter as their profile picture. Users can also connect multiple wallets to choose from their collection of NFTs.
