Republican Senator from Missouri, Josh Hawley, suffered a further reaction online when he appeared at a hearing regarding the Capitol Riot, which some are believed to have helped incite.
Mr Hawley participated in a joint hearing between the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs and the Senate Rules Committee where Senators interviewed former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund, former Staff Sgt. Senate Arms Michael Stenger, Former Sergeant-at-Arms Paul Irving, and Metropolitan Police Department Acting Chief Constable Robert Contee.
Referring to Mr Hawley, a Twitter user wrote that it was “difficult to see a treacherous insurgency attempt to question witnesses about his acts of sedition.”
It is truly difficult to witness a treacherous insurrectionary attempt to question witnesses about its acts of sedition.
Hawley’s hypocrisy is downright Republican.

Mr Hawley became the first senator to take over from then-President Donald Trump when Mr Hawley announced in late December that he would challenge the election results when congressional certification of the electoral college results .
One particular line of questioning from Mr Hawley that disturbed many during the hearing was when he used words from retired General Russell Honoré to say that claims that Capitol Building security officials have being complicit are “disrespectful” and “really quite shocking”.

Mr Honoré said days after the January 6 riot that the former Capitol Police Chief Sund, “did not have enough police on hand to protect the Capitol, which led me to believe that there was a certain complicity on the part of the Capitol police and that will come into the investigation ”.
Mr Honoré has since been invited by President Nancy Pelosi to investigate security failures at the Capitol.
An account holder demanded that Mr. Hawley be “charged with sedition and locked up”.
How Josh Hawley can participate in the hearings of the Committee investigating 1/6 insurgency. He clearly helped incite the riot and gave aid and comfort to the enemies of our democracy. He should be stripped of any committee membership. He should be charged with sedition and locked up. pic.twitter.com/zVBlslIf0h

Clint Watts, senior researcher at the Center for Cyber and Homeland Security at George Washington University and a member of the Foreign Policy Research Institute, wrote that Mr. Hawley “to ask questions is insulting”.
HuffPost reporter Matt Fuller wrote that he was “rich enough to watch Josh Hawley ask about” the January 6 insurgency.
It’s pretty rich to see Josh Hawley asking about the January 6 attacks.
Feel like he should answer the questions.

Hawley is disgusting! He is a gregarious weasel!

I can’t even begin to say how much my anger is at Josh Hawley’s disgusting hypocrisy by expressing his gratitude and concern for the Capitol Police.
Shameless white supremacist hypocrite.– 🌊Bernice García Baca (@ bernice14) February 23, 2021
Political scientist Norman Ornstein called Mr Hawley a “monster” and added that “to participate in a hearing on the police response to the insurgency he helped instigate is a disgrace”.
Josh Hawley is a monster. It is a shame that he is attending a hearing on the police response to the insurgency he helped incite.

Josh Hawley is offended that anyone accuses anyone of being an accomplice in the insurgency he was complicit in.

Mr Hawley’s judgment was harsh after he opposed the certification of electoral college results, standing firm even after the Capitol was ransacked by a mob supporting Trump. Former Missouri Senator John Danforth said that “supporting Josh and trying so hard to get him elected to the Senate was the worst mistake I have ever made in my life.”
Rick Tyler, communications director for Ted Cruz’s 2016 campaign, slammed Mr. Hawley and his former boss after the riot, telling NBC News, “It’s not enough to say that you represent voters who believe that the The election was rigged when this claim was made. based on lies and plots that were completely refuted by election officials, recounts, court cases and the lack of credible evidence. “
He added: “Senator Hawley’s job was to represent the truth. Instead, he chose to join the president and others, namely Senator Cruz, in inciting an insurgency.
