A high school diving champion died in a car accident on Monday evening which also took the lives of two others.
Maisey O’Donnell, 18, was on spring vacation in Florida with friends of the Concord-Carlisle high school in Massachusetts when the accident occurred.
According to WCVB-TV, the accident occurred on Monday evening after the O’Donnell SUV and three others collided with a semi-trailer that had made a U-turn in the paved median of the highway.
The SUV would then have crossed the median and the two lanes in the direction is before stopping on the south side of the highway, said Florida Highway Patrol.
Jimmy McIntosh and Hannah Wasserman were declared dead on the scene before O’Donnell was also identified as a victim. A fourth victim remains in critical condition.
“The Concord-Carlisle Lycée community learned a tragic car accident that took place in Florida on Monday evening,” said the superintendent of the Regional School of Concord-Carlisle, Dr Laurie Hunter in a statement on Tuesday.
“Two seniors, Jimmy McIntosh and Hannah Wasserman, died following the accident. We offer our deep condolences to Hannah and Jimmy’s families during this unimaginable period. Their loss will be deeply felt by our school community as well as by so many families in Carlisle and Concord. ”
O’Donnell was a double diving champion in Massachusetts and has already undertaken to continue her sports career at Williams College.
