T’Vondre Sweat’s car ‘flipped onto its side and overturned’ in Texas highway crash and smelled of ‘burnt marijuana’ – but he escaped unharmed before being arrested for drunk driving just two weeks before the 2024 NFL Draft.

T’Vondre Sweat avoided serious injury this weekend when his Ford Bronco flipped onto its side and overturned in the car crash that saw him arrested for drunk driving this weekend -end.

Sweat, 22, one of the NFL Draft’s top prospects, collided with a blue Dodge sports car in Texas – according to a new report from TMZ – causing his car to lose control and overturn.

Additionally, TMZ claims a police report claims Sweat’s vehicle had a “burnt marijuana odor” and that he appeared to have “glassy eyes.”

Sweat, the former Texas Longhorn defensive lineman, has been talked about as a potential second-round pick in the upcoming draft.

Sweat, the 2023 Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and Outland Trophy winner, posted a $3,000 bond, allowing his pre-draft process to continue.

Ahead of the draft later this month, Sweat flew to Tennessee on Monday to visit the Titans and will travel to Seattle later this week, according to Tom Pelissero. Sweat will take advantage of these visits to explain his situation to the franchises.

He was seen leaving jail later Sunday afternoon alongside his lawyer, according to KXAN News, the local NBC affiliate.

Sweat kept his face covered with a towel and neither he nor his attorney responded to a question about the future of his NFL career.

It is not yet known when Sweat will return to court.

Last season, he recorded two sacks, eight tackles for loss, seven quarterback hurries, four TD passes and 45 total tackles, earning him the Outland Trophy as the nation’s top interior lineman.

ESPN ranks Sweat as the No. 3 defensive tackle prospect for the draft, which will take place in Detroit, Michigan, April 25-27.

Sweat, who is the younger brother of Philadelphia Eagles passer Josh Sweat, likely won’t face any discipline from the league because the arrest occurred before he joined the NFL.

However, the incident could be a major blow to his draft stock, with NFL teams possibly being put off by his arrest.
