Murderous Karur rally

A rally of TVK’s Vijay in Karur on September 27 turned deadly after a stampede. The total number of deaths in the accident stands at 41, including many women and children.

Around 60 people are said to have been injured and are receiving medical treatment at the Karur Government Medical College and Hospital.

The police have filed a complaint against three party members and are investigating the matter.

TVK approached the Madras High Court seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe alleging conspiracy and incidents of stone-pelting and police brutality at the public gathering, saying such a situation led to the stampede.

Video message from Vijay

Party founder Vijay released a video message on September 30 and said, “Namaste to everyone. I have never faced such a painful situation in my life. The only pain in my heart is the pain itself. The reason so many people come to see me on this tour is because of the love and affection they have for me. realized, is very close to my heart. That’s why I avoided all political reasons,” according to news agency PTI.

“I only thought about people’s safety. I carefully chose the places for this purpose. I asked for permission for 10 places and contacted the police accordingly. But what should not have happened happened. I am also a human being. When everyone is affected in such moments, I cannot leave. Even if I wanted to go back, I knew that I would have to go to other places. I also know that no matter what they say, it will not will not be a solution. People who are being treated in the center hospital are expected to be cured soon. I will meet you all as soon as possible,” he added.

Vijay alleged the involvement of Tamil Nadu’s ruling DMK and CM MK Stalin in the stampede.

“At this moment, I would like to thank all the politicians, political parties, friends, leaders and everyone who understood our pain. We went to almost five districts to protest. Nothing like this should have happened. But how can corruption happen? People don’t know all the truths. People watch everything. When those protesting were telling the truth, I felt like God himself had come in person and revealed everything. Soon, all the truth will come out,” Vijay said in the video. message, according to PTI.

“In the seats allotted to us, we stood at those places and talked. We did nothing else. CM sir, if you want to take revenge, do whatever you can, but don’t touch my party men. I will either be at home or in the office. Do whatever you can. Friends, colleagues, our political journey will continue even stronger, with even more courage,” he added.
