How much does a good thing cost too much? Streaming sites and television networks produce documentary series like A Cadbury Factory is launching chocolate bars. It is difficult to follow.
It’s easy to see why. People are curious. We all like to see an overview of the life of our favorite celebrities. And don’t try to say no, you would lie.
Amazon Prime did it on an industrial basis during the first groom season at the game. The first episode of the show takes a look at the lives of women and friends of professional footballers – better known as Wags, although we all know that they hate this term. After all, they show that they are not only wives of trophies.
However, the less it is more. A unique documentary series is often sufficient to show you what you need to know, and this is certainly the case here.
It is time to drop the camera if you use 35 -second assemblies of a dog with a bath in a spa in a series on the tests and the tribulations to be the partner of a footballer.
Do not get me wrong, Bebezao, or “Big Baby” in English, seems to have a cracking time absolutely while being pampered in the Doggie Lavish Lounge. But it is such a useless scene that sums up the industry of this season.
The Amazon Prime documentary series, married to the game, has been renewed for a second season
Three new couples were added to the distribution, including the defender of Arsenal Gabriel and his partner Gabrielle
Taylor Ward and Riyad Mahrez come back to the series as they highlight their life in Saudi Arabia
Now it may seem hard. There are ephemeral moments of authenticity when you can connect with the so-called “wags” involved. He has relatable moments, but they are rare.
Facing familiar Taylor Ward, wife of the former Manchester City star, Riyad Mahrez, and Cat Harding, the fiancée now from Arsenal Jorginho midfielder, returns, but there are three new stars.
Gabrielle Figueiredo, wife of Arsenal Star Gabriel, Stephanie Hope, partner of Leon Bailey and Claudia Rodriguez of Aston Villa, partner of Marc Cucurella de Chelsea, lower the curtain to their lifestyle, which is dishonest for many.
It is not a spectacle extremely filled with scenarios, but the one that clearly stands out for the rest is the life of Claudia and Cucurella. The Spaniard was in the evolution of perfect summer with its national side. Well, it looked perfect for a stranger, but it was certainly not the case.
Cucurella and Rodriguez come as a package, it’s a team. Their chemistry and their commitment to meet the challenges together – like the autism of their elder Child Mateo – is both admirable and moving. Cucurella crying in Rodriguez’s arms – as we can see in the trailer – while the heart brings an attractive authenticity to their relationship.
A moment that sounds true is when the Chelsea man is on vacation after obtaining the glory of the European championship. While helping Mateo and his other children, he says: “It’s my real job and the other is just for fun”. Football is just a match at the end of the day.
You will get out of the show to find the couple extremely friendly. Their ups and downs are all all to see. Nothing of these nonsense of public relations, it is real, it is the life they live. All the money, cars and holidays do not make the family life of Cucurella make it easier.
That being said, it is largely like a good humor for many other people involved. There are parties, house purchases of 7 million pounds sterling and even a luxury hen in Marbella. It doesn’t seem really bad, isn’t it?
Chelsea star Marc Cucurella and her girlfriend Claudia Rodriguez are new in the series
The couple opened up on the challenges they faced to raise their autistic child
The season shows the commitment of couples to take up the challenges far from football together
The series also shows the first in the third of Taylor and Riyadh, but final, at Lake Como
At the end of episode three, I would have fortunately turned off the screen and settle for what I looked at. I had seen everything I needed.
The problem is that we don’t really know the real wives and the friends, except Claudia and sometimes Taylor. The fascination of this world that seized me in season one was lost halfway in season two. It is the simple and simple fact.
The women involved are all charming and there are times when marrying the game addresses important subjects such as body image, sorrow to lose a loved one, the reality of maternity without an omnipresent father and the first family. As eloquence Ward says by facing the disease of a loved one: “family on everything”.
However, too much from the show is occupied by space filling scenes. The key moments could have been comfortably pressed in three episodes, perhaps even two.
This is one of those shows on which you can stick to it in the background while scrolling through social media.
It may not be my cup of tea, and you can reassemble it. But take it to a man who was made to watch the Kardashians with his girlfriend and ended up hanging – guilty, married – married to the game is an easy watch, but barely a engaging show.
Sometimes one and done is the way to follow.
Married to the game is available exclusively on Prime Video.
