The passengers of airlines in Türkiye will be sentenced to a fine if they get up before the seat belt panel goes out after landing, regulators said.
Civil Turkish Aviation Authority said it had imposed the order after receiving passenger complaints. The rules have come into force earlier this month.
Turkish media reports say that the fines will be about $ 70 US (£ 50), although no amount is mentioned in the authority’s directives.
The authority warned that there had been a “serious increase” of these incidents, with many complaints concerning passengers grabbing the luggage above the head before the plane was parked.
Turkey is a destination for tens of millions of tourists each year.
Aviation Authority said that commercial airlines must now publish an advertisement and report those who do not follow orders.
Passengers must be informed of keeping their safety belts locked and refrain from standing and opening up lockers above until the seat belt panel is extinguished.
Those who do not respect these rules must be reported to authority, he said.
Turkish Airlines, the national carrier, updated his landing announcement, according to Euronews.
“Passengers who do not comply with the rules will be reported to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation through a disruptive passenger report, and an administrative fine will be imposed in accordance with applicable legal regulations,” the airline for landing said, according to the television network.
The BBC contacted the airline to comment.
