Brighton 2.20 – Anglesey Boy

It might be best to side with the younger ones for this encounter, and the 3 year old ANGLESEY BOY is the one I would like to side with here. Connections have clearly been undecided on the gelding’s best trip, but he looked much more effective when returning to an extended 5f at Bath last time out, where he showed good rapport.

Having been overenthusiastic and not having lasted more than 7,000 meters on previous occasions, he seemed better suited to these circumstances, and the 1,000 meter flight here may see more improvement. The turn signals come on for the first time, and it wouldn’t be surprising if this dynamic guy puts on a daring show here with Rossa Ryan in the saddle.

Brighton 3:50am – Atlanta Breeze

Mare, BROKEN ATLANTA is the game each way here for the Marcus Tregoning stable. The yard has an excellent record on the south coast, and although this talented 8-year-old blows hot and cold, she has an unblemished record at Brighton, winning both of her starts on course and distance.

Her most recent exploits haven’t been great, but she’s very efficient, so arriving here after a 292-day layoff shouldn’t be considered a problem. The blinders which are often very effective return, and apart from a BHA score of 67, she returns to the same note as during her last success. Dougie Costello makes the rounds and they look at it from a value perspective.

Nottingham4.40 – Elladonna

James Fanshawe is currently in poor health, with the yard operating just below a 30% strike rate for May. ELLADONNE calls for returning to travel after running with credit in a few 1m missions so far this season, as if 10f would be perfect for her.

She had seemed a little overwhelmed when the taps were turned on at the end of the proceedings, and so naturally, this race seems much more appropriate as she has her stamina fired here. The hood goes on for the first time and, going back to 73, she can get into the thick of it here. Will Buick takes the wheel and the combination gets the green light from me.

Huntingdon 7:40 a.m. – Cour de Môle

MOLE YARD represents Team Ben Pauling, and coming back to Hurdling with a lower rating compared to his Chase rating, he should be taken seriously. A winner in five of his last six starts, including when he won a nice prize at the October meeting at Cheltenham, he has a touch of class and is clearly the progressive type.

His only disappointment of late has been when he encountered some really testing terrain, so with favorable conditions the conditions underfoot should be perfect for him. Winner here over obstacles the last time on this track, he can cash in again here. The excellent Ben Jones takes over, and Mole Court has major claims.
