Tuberville doubles down on DoD takes – ‘Either we’re pro-life or we’re not’

In recent weeks, Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) has successfully blocked Defense Department promotions on a new abortion policy implemented by Biden’s Defense Department.

Tuberville spoke about it during an interview with Mobile, AL radio FM Talk 106.5, insisting that he would continue his grip until the Pentagon reversed its policy.

“[T]the taxpayers are paying for the trip, they are paying for three extra weeks off,” he said. “I mean, it’s atrocious what’s going on here. But they politicized it. I keep my word. I sent them the note that the secretary [Lloyd] Austin said we were going to do it this way. Of course, I responded to them immediately and told them that if you did, you wouldn’t promote anything as long as you did it that way. They think they’re going to change me. It’s not going to happen. We’re just going to continue with this and hopefully they realize that we have a few people here who will fight.

The senior U.S. senator from Alabama said most Republicans were on his side on the issue. He also suggested the pro-life stance was a watershed moment for his party.

“Most [Republicans] are [supporting the hold]said Tuberville. “We have a few that disappoint me. Like I said when I stood up in a caucus meeting the other day, I said, ‘Either we’re pro-life or we’re not, okay? ‘ To me, that’s one of the main policies that we have in the Republican Party – is that we’re pro-life. And I can understand that there are exceptions. We have always used exceptions in the military — rape, incest and maternal health. We never had a problem in the army. But they try so hard to politicize the army, to radicalize it. Everything they touch turns to socialism. If we don’t rise up in the Republican Party, get some backbone, this country is gone as we know it.
