A tsunami warning was issued for the Papua New Guinea after a solid amplitude earthquake of 6.9 hit the island nation of the Pacific, according to US Tsunami Warning Center.
The earthquake was centered 194 km east of Kimbe, the capital of the province of Western New Britain, according to US Geological Survey. He hit the local time on Saturday morning.
“Dangerous tsunami waves are planned for certain ribs,” said the American Tsunami warning center after the earthquake.
The waves of tsunami from 1 to 3 meters are possible in certain parts of the coast of Papua New Guinea, according to the forecast of threats of tsunami.
Waves under 0.3 meters are also possible for the neighboring Solomon Islands, depending on the forecast.
