Trump’s endorsement of MAGA champion ‘Eric’ Rocks Missouri Primary

Political figures have reacted to former President Donald Trump’s endorsement of ‘Eric’ during Missouri’s Republican primary for the US Senate, which came after Trump criticized the campaign of Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, noting the “great dishonesty in politics” over a poll that deliberately undercounts support for Trump.

Trump endorsed “Eric” on Monday, the day before the Aug. 2 state primaries, but did so teasingly, generically endorsing “Eric” in the race between former Gov. Eric Greitens (R-MO ) to Eric Schmitt.

“We need to send a MAGA champion and a true warrior to the United States Senate, someone who will fight for border security, election integrity, our military and great veterans, and a mighty force against crime and the border,” Trump said in a statement. , adding that this individual must not back down from the “crazy radical left who are destroying our country”.

“I trust the great people of Missouri, on this one, to make up their own minds, just like they did when they gave me landslide victories in the 2016 and 2020 elections, and so I’m proud to announce that ERIC has my Full and Full Approval,” he added:

Greitens was quick to tout the endorsement, as it generated buzz from others who judge this “one of the best the trolls all time.”

The endorsement comes as support for Greitens grows, maintaining his lead in the main state contest. Over the weekend, Greitens’ campaign shared the results of a private survey with Breitbart News, showing him leading his closest competitor, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, by four percentage points:

The survey reached a staggering 513,245 voters on Friday evening, engaging 23% of the half-million individuals in live phone calls. Of more than 100,000 live voters contacted, 34% say they support Greitens in the primary, giving him a four percentage point lead over his next closest challenger, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt. , which received 30% of the responses. Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), whom former President Donald J. Trump has said he disagrees with, received support from 21% of poll participants.

Each of the three candidates gained a percentage point in favor of figures published by Breitbart News from the same survey underway on Friday, which covered figures compiled from Thursday evening. It showed Greitens at 33%, Schmitt at 29% and Hartzler at 20%. In other words, no one has gained ground on Greitens. Undecided voters accounted for 12% of responses according to Thursday’s figures released on Friday, but the latest information reveals demographics are starting to decline with Tuesday’s election just days away. Currently, 10% of respondents do not know who they will support.

Greitens spoke with Breitbart News Saturday over the weekend, describing Schmitt as a “RINO”.

“Listen, RINOs lie, and RINO’s lie won’t surprise you…it’s, ‘We need a RINO to win.’ The thing is, I’m a MAGA candidate and Missouri is a pro-Trump state,” he said during an appearance on the show, describing Missouri as an “American state first.”

“It’s not just what you see in your stomach with all these people supporting President Trump, supporting Eric Greitens, supporting the America First movement – quantitatively you’re looking at neutral observers – people like Decision Desk, FiveThirtyEight – they came up with a general election analysis that says “Eric Greitens is the big favorite to win the general election.” It’s going to win 97 out of 100 iterations,” he said, adding, “RINO’s lie was completely blown out of the water.

The Missouri primary takes place on Tuesday, August 2.
