WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Donald TrumpThe state physician wrote in a memo released Monday that the former president is in “excellent health” and “will continue to lead a healthy and active life for many years.”
The note, which Trump, 77, posted on his Truth Social account, was published the same day as the Democratic speech. President Joe BidenIt’s the 81st birthday. The physical and mental health of both men has become a major issue in the 2024 presidential race.
“President Trump reduced his weight through an improved diet and continued daily physical activity, while maintaining a rigorous program,” read the memo signed by Bruce Aronwald, a New Jersey osteopath.
The memo provided no further details.
“His physical exams were completely normal and his cognitive exams were exceptional,” Aronwald wrote.
Trump is far ahead in the race for the Republican nomination, and Biden has said he plans to run for office.
A Trump doctor, Harold Bornstein, who wrote a similar memo in 2016, said Trump dictated its contents.
Trump reported that he weighed 215 pounds (98 kg) and was 6 feet 3 inches (1.9 meters) tall in August when he was booked into an Atlanta jail on more than a dozen criminal charges in part of a vast criminal case arising from the former. The US president’s attempts to overturn his 2020 election defeat in Georgia. Trump has pleaded not guilty in that case and in three other criminal cases against him.
