Democratic groups and non -partisan organizations continued a Decree of Management on Monday on Monday on Monday to electoral procedures signed last week by President Donald Trump, launching a legal fight against Trump’s attempt to unilaterally reorganize the way the elections are organized.
“The ordinance is an attack on controls and constitutionally compulsory counterweights which maintain the American and fair American elections,” said the complaint of non -partisan organizations. “Thanks to this unconstitutional action, the president interferes with the authority of the States and the Congress to set electoral rules to try to make much more difficult for eligible American citizens to exercise their fundamental right to vote.”
Legal challenges are only the last of a wave of disputes against the Trump administration, accusing the president of violation of the powers of the congress by acting outside the limits of the law. Some of the allegations of prosecution also echo an acourt battle during the first presidency of Trump, when he launched a commission to study the fraud of voters after claiming mass fraud during the 2016 elections. This commission fell under a mountain of prosecution.
The proceedings, both filed before the Federal Court of DC, aim at Trump’s efforts to push states to adopt a requirement that voters show documents proving their citizenship during registration and allege that Trump’s order exceeds election days. (Most of the 20 states that include these ballots require a point of hand displaying that they were sent on the day of the ballot or before.)
The trial of non -partisan groups – The League of United American Citizens, a group of families of soldiers called the Secure Family Initiative and the Arizona Students’ Association – also disputes the directives of Trump who would add requirements for the military and other Americans abroad who seek to vote.
Meanwhile, the democratic complaint distinguishes the instructions from the decree for the Ministry of Government Effectiveness – or DOGE – to help an examination of the lists of state voters using federal data to identify the alleged non -citizens.
Not only is this directive a violation of the privacy law, the Democrats affirm, but “the corresponding information contained in the federal databases to the recording data of voters is an extremely subject to errors for several reasons, not the least because the federal databases are often not” up to date “.
The National Democratic Committee, the Association of Democratic Governors, the Democratic Democratic Governors Committee, the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee, the campaign committee of the Democrat Congress and the leaders of the Senate and the Democratic Chamber Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries.
In a statement, the White House spokesman Harrison Fields accused the Democrats of showing “their disdain for the Constitution”.
“The Trump administration is standing for free, fair and honest and asking this fundamental question is essential to our constitutional republic,” said Fields.
