The American presidents generally enter into office with a wave of support which decreases over time. But Mr. Trump’s approval dropped a little faster than his predecessors.
Trump began his mandate with the second weakest approval note for a president of modern history. The only recent president to have started in a worse position was Mr. Trump the first time he took office.
The average surveys, assembled by the New York Times, includes almost all the polls published by the public following Mr. Trump’s approval. The objective of an average survey is to balance the biases of individual surveys, which can vary in quality and frequency, and to facilitate the monitoring of changes in public opinion over time.
The average does not directly deal with the causes of the decrease in approval, or if they are motivated by specific actions such as its promulgation of prices, its threats to the allies or the Girations on the markets.
