Trump tries to expel Asian migrants to Libya: immigration lawyers

President Donald Trump’s administration strives to expand his unnecessary cruelty to immigrants and apparently plotted the soldiers to send immigrants to Libya, according to immigration lawyers.

The plan to expel immigrants to Libya, a country torn apart by war, known for its social ill -treatment, would not only represent a probable violation of human rights, but another act of cheeky challenge towards the federal judicial power.

Last month, a federal judge of Massachusetts issued an injunction prohibiting the Trump administration from expelling any non -citizen in a third country – a country which is not their country of origin – without regular procedure, and without giving them a significant opportunity to demonstrate that it fears that it is afraid of being persecuted, tortured or killed if they are sent.

Judge Brian Murphy, who issued this injunction, quickly made an order on Wednesday specifying that “the allegedly imminent moves, as indicated by press agencies and as applicants seek to corroborate with class accounts and public information, would clearly violate the order of this court.”

The New York Times Tuesday that the Trump administration planned to use a military plane to pilot immigrants in Libya on Wednesday. When Trump was invited Wednesday if he planned to send immigrants to Libya, he replied: “I don’t know, you will have to ask the internal security, please.”

National Immigration Alliance, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project and human rights lawyers submitted an emergency request before Murphy on Wednesday.

Lawyers have warned that immigrants “Laotians, Vietnamese and Philippins”, who are detained by immigration and customs’ application (ICE) in Texas, were “prepared for revocation in Libya, a notorious county for its human rights violations, in particular with regard to migrant residents”. They declared that immigrants had not received any notice required or the possibility of requesting protection under the convention against torture.

Publisher’s choice

“Libya has a long file of extreme human rights violations,” the lawyers wrote. “Any member of the class who is moved to Libya faces a high probability of imprisonment followed by torture and even disappearance or death.”

Included as an exhibition was an email of an immigration lawyer at Orange County Public Defender in California. He said: “What we hear about relatives is that, yesterday, ice officers in the detention center in southern Texas gathered 1 Vietnamese prisoners, as well as 5 others (including 1 of Laos) in a room and told them that they had to sign a document accepting to be expelled in Libya. When they all refused, they were each been put in place.

Another exhibition included declarations sent by email lawyers for the asylum defense project. A lawyer wrote that a Laotian man in South Texas Ice Processing Center “can be sent to Libya or Imminent Saudi Arabia”. She went to meet immigrants there, “but they have already been moved,” wrote her colleague.

The Trump administration has already expelled hundreds of Venezuelan migrants to a notorious mega-prison in Salvador without regular procedure, despite the order of a federal judge not to, saying that no one can force the administration to bring them back. Trump and his officials refused in good place to bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a man from Maryland whom he illegally expelled to the Nation of Central America – even after the Supreme Court made a unanimous decision 9-0 by ordering him to “facilitate” his return.

The penitentiary system of El Salvador is known for torture and abuse, and its judicial system is indeed a “black hole”, as Roller reported. But the expedition of immigrants to Libya would be a new hollow.

The annual report in 2023 of the State Department on human rights practices in Libya revealed, among other things, “credible reports on: arbitrary or illegal murders, including extrajudicial murders; the disappearance applied; torture or cruel, inhumonic or degrading groups or a punishment perpetrated by the government and armed groups; The judiciary; political prisoners or detainees;

The report painted an even more disastrous image for migrants and refugees.

“Migrants, refugees and other foreign nationals were particularly vulnerable to kidnapping,” said the report, adding that “these people have remained vulnerable to crises by armed groups engaged in the trafficking of human beings or the smuggling of migrants.”

Elsewhere, the report indicates: “An unknown number of people, including refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants, have been held in facilities under the control of armed groups”, including “extralegal installations managed by smugglers and other non -state actors”.

He continued: “The criminal and non -state armed groups controlling extralegal installations are regularly tortured and abused prisoners, subjecting them to arbitrary murders, rapes and sexual violence, tobacco passages, electric shocks, burns, forced work and a deprivation of food and water, according to dozens of shared testimonies and human payment. Families of prisoners. “”

The New York Times Wednesday afternoon, that the two rival governments of Libya both denied having accepted any agreement to accept the deportations of the United States
