- Trump threatened China on Monday with an additional 50%tariff.
- Trump last week hit China with a 34% rate rate, in addition to the 20% prices imposed earlier.
- China retaliated by imposing a rate of 34% on its own American goods, attracting Trump’s anger.
President Donald Trump threatened on Monday to slap an additional 50% rate on China, in what is a major intensification for the Beijing days after the deployment of the “Liberation Day” of the administration last week.
“If China does not withdraw its 34% increase above its trade abuses already in the long term by tomorrow, on April 8, 2025, the United States will impose additional prices on China by 50%, from April 9,” said Trump in a social position.
“In addition, all discussions with China concerning their meetings requested with us will be finished!” He added.
Trump also said that pricing negotiations with other nations would start “immediately”.
After Trump announced last week that he would offer an additional 34% reciprocal rate on Chinese products, China retaliated and said it would implement its own 34% tariff on American products.
This development comes after Trump in recent months has already imposed 20% tariffs on China on concerns about fentanyl in the United States.
