Trump tackles Harris’ affordability crisis

John Carney, Breitbart News’ business editor, said Thursday on Fox Business Network’s “Kudlow” that former President Donald Trump’s speech to the Economic Club of New York laid out how to tackle the affordability crisis.

Host Larry Kudlow said: “Trump, at the New York Economic Club today, addresses the affordability crisis.”

He continued: “John Carney, you’re my expert on accessibility. I mean, I think he hit it hard today, but I’m going to ask you, did he do the right thing?”

Carney said: “He did the right thing. He addressed housing affordability, which is a huge problem in America. It’s one of the issues that all the surveys show is really hurting people. And he said he’s going to open up land for us to build on and he’s going to do permit reform to make energy affordable. That’s absolutely necessary. Those are the two things that, when you ask people, they’re most upset about in the housing affordability crisis between Biden and Harris.”

Kudlow said: “That’s what he did, he talked about opening up federal lands for housing. It’s bad enough that they don’t do it for oil and gas, I understand that. But he added housing, which I think is a new thing.”

Carney said, “This is a new trend. The other thing he mentioned is that there are a lot of regulations, especially environmental regulations, that are a barrier to housing construction today. If you talk to builders, they tell you they’re trying to get the permits to build homes, but the regulatory permits are a barrier. That can be addressed at the presidential level, at the federal level, because a lot of this is a federal regulatory issue.”
