A White House official said that the 10% rate would take effect early in the morning of April 5 and the additional price on the worst offenders on April 9.
“For decades, our country has been looted, looted, raped and looted by close nations and far, both friend and enemy,” Trump said in the Garden Pink of the White House.
“Now, we are going to invoice the European Union. They are very difficult. Very, very, very difficult traders. You know, you think of the European Union, very friendly. They tear us away. It’s so sad to see. It’s so pathetic,” said Trump.
“We will charge them 20%”, the American president.
The Trump administration estimates the prices – billed by the European Union in the United States at 39%, and reduces this figure by half to find the 20%, in what Trump qualified the “reciprocal” prices.
The Trump administration has been particularly diverted from what it considers the non -caricate obstacles of the EU, such as the value added tax and its technological regulations.
Trump’s tariff offensive came as a slap against the European Union, which sought to bring its administration to the negotiating table during the announcement on Wednesday. EU’s head of commerce, Maroš Šefčovič, went to Washington twice to meet his American counterparts – in vain.
The European Commission said earlier that it would respond in a strike at the new automotive and reciprocal prices of President Donald Trump, in addition to his response to American steel and aluminum tasks already in force.
