Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sissi told his American counterpart Donald Trump on Saturday that the world had on him “to achieve a permanent and historic peace agreement” to end the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians.
The phone call on Saturday was the first between the two leaders since Trump repeatedly launched a plan in recent days to move the Palestinians from Gaza to Jordan and Egypt, which Sissi and other Arab leaders have strongly rejected .
Neither the American nor the Egyptian reading of the appeal mentioned the proposal.
The declaration of the White House was enough to note that the two “discussed the important role of Egypt in the release of hostages of Gaza” and that Sissi expressed his confidence that “the management of Trump could inaugurate an age of Now peace in the Middle East “.
Sissi’s office declared that he and Trump extended mutual invitations for state visits during the appeal and stressed the importance of the continuation of “coordination and cooperation”.
Sissi also noted that “the international community is counting on President Trump’s ability to achieve a permanent and historic peace agreement that has ended the conflict that has existed in the region for decades,” the statement said.

Trump last month suggested a plan to “clean” the Gaza Strip, saying last Saturday that he “would like Egypt to take people”, as well as Jordan.
At the time, he said that he would speak to Sissi the next day, but Egypt later denied that the call had taken place.
Egypt and Jordan have rejected the idea.
Wednesday, Sissi described the proposal “an injustice in which we cannot participate”, but said that he was “determined to work with President Trump, who seeks to reach the desired peace according to the two -state solution ».
Trump, however, insisted again on Thursday that Egypt and Jordan “will do it”, adding: “We do a lot for them”.
Egypt is a key American ally in the region, and was the only country in addition to Israel to receive an exemption from the frost of Trump’s foreign aid last month.
Since the Hamas terrorist group attacked Israel on October 7, 2023 – killing some 1,200 people and taking 251 hostages, triggering war in the Gaza Strip – Egypt played a delicate balancing act, now its role mediator in the conflict while positioning himself as champion of the Palestinian cause.
“If I had to ask this from the Egyptian people, all would go down the street to say no,” said Sissi on Wednesday about the proposed plan.

During a meeting in Cairo on Saturday, the best diplomats in Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar also rejected any forced displacement of the Palestinians.
“We affirm our rejection of (any attempt) to compromise the inalienable rights of the Palestinians, whether through settlement activities, or evictions or annexes of land or to leave the lands of its owners … under Any form whatsoever or in any circumstance or justification, ”the seal.
The signatories added that they were looking forward to working with Trump’s administration to achieve a fair and complete peace in the Middle East based on a two-state solution.
Friday, the media linked to the state in Egypt released images of people protesting against the border of Egypt with Gaza against the Palestinian trip.
Reading the Sissi office on Saturday did not mention the proposal, but said that the call “witnessed a positive dialogue” between the presidents on the implementation of the hostage fire agreement between Hamas and Israel, negotiated by Egypt, the United States and Qatar.
The agreement, which entered into force last month, plans a ceasefire in three stages which is ultimately intended to establish a “sustainable calm” in the band, but the parties have so far accepted only ‘A first phase.
Until now, 13 Israeli hostages have been released as part of the agreement, which imposes the release of 33 so -called “humanitarian” hostages during its first 42 -day phase, and Israel has released hundreds of prisoners of security Palestinians.
