President Trump signed a decree on Friday to reduce national security and public security threats posed by drones in the United States.
Trump commands a working group to make sure that enough are done to detect and identify drones, and to suppress illegal uses such as espionage and drug smuggling. This is a priority given the next FIFA World Cup in 2026 and the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028.
“With large -scale public events such as the Olympic Games and the World Cup on the horizon, taking action on the safety of airspace has never been shy,” journalists Michael Kratsios, head of the White House office and technological office, told journalists.
The risks were underlined by Russian drones strike in Ukraine, and The surprise strikes of the surprise drone of Ukraine This destroyed some planes deep in Russia, said Sebastian Gorka, principal director of the fight against terrorism to the National Security Council of the White House.
“The timing could not even be better than today, given what we saw with the remarkable drone operation that occurred just a few days ago in Russia,” Gorka told journalists.
Gorka said the federal response to drones made abroad – and for the protection of American military sites, critical infrastructure and major public events – failed. He said the ordinance would stimulate government-counter-ground capacities and said the FBI would begin to train police and local forces to be able to do more to protect against drone threats.
“We will increase the application of current laws to dissuade two types of individuals: criminals and idiots,” said Gorka.
The order will also seek to stimulate the American development of drones and the commercial use of technology for deliveries and other purposes.
Trump has also signed orders to open the way for a new generation of supersonic jets in the United States and encourage the development of Electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft or Evtols, sometimes described as air taxis.
“Flying cars are not only for jets,” said Kratsios.
