Trump says Israel is under attack because US shows ‘great weakness’ after Iran launches hundreds of kamikaze drones and missiles towards Tel Aviv

Former President Trump referred to the Iranian attack on Israel, saying it was because the United States was showing “great weakness.”

“I want to say God bless the people of Israel,” Trump said Saturday at the top of his political rally in Pennsylvania.

“They are under attack right now. It’s because we are showing great weakness,” declared the ex-president at the end of the event.

His remarks came as Iran launched drones and missiles at Israel on Saturday evening in retaliation for a deadly Israeli airstrike two weeks ago.

The Israeli military said the aerial threats were intercepted with the help of allies, including the United States.

“America prays for Israel. We send our absolute support to everyone in danger,” Trump said.

Trump said “America prays for Israel” during his Saturday political rally, but then claimed that Saturday night’s Iranian attack was because “we are showing great weakness.”

The ex-president also placed the blame on the United States before moving on to other topics.

“The weakness we have shown is unbelievable,” Trump told his supporters. “This would not have happened if we were in power.”

The ex-president’s claims echo those he has made online and at political events in recent months, as tensions escalate in the Middle East and Israel wages war in Gaza.

“An attack on Israel, on October 7 and today, would never have happened,” he continued.

The former president also spoke to Truth Social on Saturday with a series of messages about Israel, including declaring: “Israel is under attack!”

The former president added that if he had been commander in chief, “this would never have happened.”

After news of attacks on Israel by Iranian forces broke, President Biden rushed back to the White House from Delaware.

In a message to X, he said: “I just met with my national security team to provide an update on Iran’s attacks on Israel.

“Our commitment to Israel’s security against threats from Iran and its proxies is ironclad.”

The White House said Biden spoke by telephone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday evening.

Iran launched the drones Saturday afternoon Eastern Standard Time and began entering Israeli airspace.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said via state media that it had attacked targets in Israel with “dozens of drones and missiles.”

A video shared with DailyMail.com shows the missiles intercepted by the Iron Dome system above Jerusalem, in the east of the country.

Sources in the US Congress say the amphibious warship Bataan is leading a US naval task force in the Eastern Mediterranean.

The Bataan has two support ships and together they have approximately 2,500 Marines on board.

The United States also has several guided-missile destroyers, including the Carney, in the region. A US security source told CNN the bombardment could last for hours.

Iran had threatened to retaliate against Israel following an attack in Syria, which Tehran said was an Israeli airstrike on an Iranian diplomatic building in Damascus.

Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has promised revenge following the attack on Damascus, for which Tel Aviv has not yet taken responsibility.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to respond with force to any attack by Iran, leaving tensions high in the Middle East.
