Trump says he doesn’t care about his legal problems: ‘Life is life’

Donald Trump told attendees at a private donor event in Florida on Saturday that he wasn’t too concerned about his many legal problems.

Speaking about his criminal charges over lunch at Mar-a-Lago, the former president said, “If you worry too much, you tend to choke.” And in a way, I don’t care. It’s just, you know, life. that’s life,” NBC News reported, citing audio from the event.

Nonetheless, Trump told those present that he was shocked when he found out he had been indicted.

“Once I was indicted, I said, Holy shit. I’ve just been indicted. Me. I’ve been indicted,” Trump said, according to the report.

Last month, Trump made his first court appearance for one of his four criminal cases, facing 34 counts of falsifying business records to hide payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

At the Mar-a-Lago event, Trump also took the opportunity to attack Democrats, saying they were “running a Gestapo administration,” referring to the Nazi secret police.

“And that’s the only thing they have. And that’s the only way they can win, in their opinion,” he said.

“Once I was indicted, I said, well, now we have to take the gloves off,” Trump continued, adding that Biden was “the worst president in the history of our country. He’s blatantly incompetent . He’s twisted as hell. He’s the Manchurian.” candidate, he accepts massive amounts of money from China, Russia, Ukraine and many other countries. »

The luncheon was part of the Republican National Committee’s (RNC) spring retreat in the Sunshine State. Hundreds of people gathered for the event and several donated $40,000 or more, CNN reported, citing sources familiar with the fundraiser.

Trump also discussed several potential vice presidential candidates on stage, NBC News reported, including South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, New York Rep. Elise Stefanik, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Sen. Ohio JD Vance, Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Florida Representative Byron Donalds.

Sources familiar with the retreat itinerary told CNN that attendees first gathered for a welcome reception with House Speaker Mike Johnson, RNC Co-Chair Lara Trump and House Conference Chair GOP Elise Stefanik.
