President Trump referred to three people arrested for suspicion of vandalizing his Trump Turnberry Golf Resort in Scotland with pro-Palestinian messages like “terrorists”.
Trump said he had been informed of the arrests by Prime Minister Keir Starmer of Great Britain. “They made serious damage,” said the president on Monday in an article on his social media channel, “and hope, will be treated harshly.”
In the incident, earlier this month, the club’s clubhouse was degraded with red paint and part of the course was unearthed and painted with the “Gaza is not a sale of 4”. Scotland police said they had charged a 33 -year -old man. They stopped another man, 75, and a woman, 66, both released, pending new surveys.
Palestine Action, a pro-Palestinian activist group, posted images of damage on social networks on March 8. “While Trump tries to treat Gaza as his property,” said the group, “he should know that his own property is at hand.”
Trump has been regularly in touch with Mr. Starmer by phone in recent weeks, according to aid from the Prime Minister, and has raised the question of Trump Turnberry, which he has been owned since 2014. The complex, in Ayrshire, on the rough west coast of Scotland, is one of Mr. Trump’s prized assets.
“You cannot let things like this attack happens,” wrote Mr. Trump, “and I greatly appreciate the work of Prime Minister Starmer and British police.”
In 2018, during his first term, Trump asked his ambassador to London, Robert Wood Johnson IV, to contact the British government to get help to direct the British Open Golf Championship in Turnberry, which has not organized the tournament since 2009.
The R&A, the golf association that runs the tournament, said in 2021, after the attack by Trump’s supporters on the American Capitol, that it would not bring the open to Turnberry when it was associated with Mr. Trump.
