President Donald Trump is tired of Republicans in Capitol Hill who try to brake his pricing powers.
During a collection of fundraising for the campaign arm of the House Republicans on Tuesday evening, Trump openly mocked the legislators on his own party which sought to assert the authority of the Congress on Trade.
“I tell you, these countries call us, kissing my ass,” Trump told a room full of house republicans. “And then I will see a rebellious republican, you know, a guy who means the gallery, say:” I think the congress should take the negotiations. “”
“Let me tell you that you are not negotiating as I negotiate,” said Trump. “The congress takes control of the negotiations, quickly sold America, because you are going to break.”
Last week, four GOP senators – including the former minority chief of the Mitch McConnell Senate – voted for a resolution that would prevent Trump from imposing prices in Canada. In addition, seven GOP senators have signed a bill to force the congress to approve all the new prices within 60 days.
Both efforts are unlikely to become law, and if they reached Trump’s office, he could deliver a veto. However, the two have exposed underlying fruit among the Republicans on the approach of Trump’s commerce.
Tuesday evening, Trump seemed to refer to the members of the GOP congress who had signed the version of the Chamber of the Prices Approval Act, which has so far included representatives. Don Bacon du Nebraska and Jeff Hurd du Colorado.
“I just saw him today, a couple of your Congress member said:” I think we should get involved in the negotiations of the prices, “said Trump in a mocking tone.” This is what I need. I need a guy who tells me how to negotiate. I tell you, the happiest people in the world would be China. “”
Trump also said that Republicans put pressure on a biggest role in the Congress in trade were on the current negotiations of his administration with the countries on trade.
“Even the concept of this harms your negotiation,” said Trump. “When they see a little story like that, the other side, you know, it hurts your negotiation. And then the false news wants to build it, and that has no chance anyway.”
