On Friday, Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine will not accept a mineral agreement which would endanger its accession to the European Union.
“Nothing could endanger … Ukraine’s membership in the EU can be accepted,” he said at a press conference in kyiv.
The Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha doubled this condition on Sunday when he said that Ukraine would never accept anything that would make the country weak.
“We can see this Russian strategy and will never accept anything that leaves Ukraine weak or defenseless,” said Sybiha. “On the contrary, real and fair peace requires solid and long -term security guarantees to preserve it.”
The comments come at the back of the latest Washington minerals in kyiv, which would grant the United States access to Ukraine oil, gas and minerals thanks to a joint investment fund that would divide these projects between the two countries.
Zelenskyy said that the last agreement of the agreement included “many new provisions that had not been discussed previously”, as well as “certain aspects which had already been rejected by both parties”, according to the Ukrainian media.
