The taxation of US President Donald Trump’s prices in the EU should be the start of a “march towards independence” for the continent, said the president of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde on Monday.
In an interview with France Inter two days before the 25% tariff of the American president on automotive imports, Lagarde said that the time was a single opportunity for Europe, despite the probable short -term disruption of the economy.
“I consider him a moment when we can decide together to take our destiny in hand, and I think it is a march towards independence,” she explained, adding that this applied to the fields of finance and information technologies as much as to defense and energy.
