Trump prices: Ford, VW and Stellantis car manufacturers respond

On Thursday, the new wave of prices from the Trump administration sent shock to the automotive industry.

The car manufacturers responded to the imminent trade war in various ways, offering discounts to buyers who hope to avoid future price increases to add imports on vehicles built outside the United States.

“Draconian” trade policies, as a Wall Street analyst has called them, will also affect cars workers, Stelllantis production in two assembly factories in Mexico and Canada.

Wall Street estimates that prices could cost more than $ 80 billion in the automotive industry and reduce Detroit revenues up to 60%, thanks to an additional $ 5,000 of vehicle contribution costs.

Ford offers employees for all customers

Ford announced Wednesday that it would make employees’ prices available to consumers for the next two months.

“In moments like these, the conversation is cheap. At Ford, we believe in action,” said Rob Kaffl, director of American sales and US concession operations, in a press release.

The discount, which ends on June 2, applies to all Ford and Lincoln models with the exception of raptors, shipping and 2025 shipping SUVs and Super Duty trucks.

The amount of saving of a consumer depends on the vehicle, but it could easily reach thousands of people. The discount would be applied in addition to any other offer or promotion that a concessionaire offers, said the company.

Ford refused to confirm whether the prices would result in higher prices for stickers.

A company spokesperson told Business Insider that he had a 74-day-in-stock offer in stock that had not been assigned by prices, against 50 days for GM and 24 days for Toyota. (About 60 days of supply is considered healthy in a normal economic environment.)

Stellantis took a work break in two factories and dismissed hundreds to others

Stellantis, which has ancient Chrysler brands like Dodge, Jeep and Ram, took a production break in its Windsor assembly plant in Canada and the Toluca assembly plant in Mexico, a spokesperson said on Thursday.

The Windsor factory, which manufactures Pacifica / Voyager mini-rounds and daytona Daytona EV muscle cars, will be offline for two weeks. He plans to resume operations the week of April 21.

VW draws on special costs for cars affected by prices

German automaker Volkswagen has confirmed that it would add “import costs” to the prices of vehicle stickers affected by prices, a spokesman said. The import costs will be added to the destination costs, which are nailed to the price of a new car.

It is not known how much the prices will affect the cost of new VW cars, as no final pricing decision has been made, the spokesman said.
