(Bloomberg) – President Donald Trump said he preferred not to impose prices on China, his last dominant remark towards the second world economy while he continues to threaten a radical action.

“We have a very big power in China, and they are prices, and they don’t want it,” the American chief at Fox News, Sean Hannity, told an interview broadcast in the United States on Thursday. “And I prefer not to have to use it. But it is a huge power over China. »»

Trump has exerted prices as a frequent threat to friends and opponents, and for the United States, the United States has promised that additional income could help finance its domestic priorities. The American chief threatened on his second day in power to put prices of 10% on China on February 1 for allowing fentanyl to “pour” in America.

The markets considered a positive sign that Trump ceased to impose prices on China in his first days in power, and his recent threats were softer than those published last year. On the campaign track, the Republican has launched additional samples from China around 60%, which, according to economists, could decimate US trade with a Chinese economy highly dependent on exports.

The Yuan extended the gains and increased 0.6% on the onshore and offshore markets after Trump’s last comments. Chinese shares have also extended gains, the CSI 300 (000300.SS) reference index ending the day by 0.8%.

It is difficult to know exactly what US President Donald Trump obtained with his latest comments on China’s prices … That said, it is difficult to see Trump back from his pricing threats. And Bloomberg Economics’ analysis shows that there is a lot in play for China and the world.

“The markets are likely to reduce bets on prices at the moment,” said Fiona Lim, main strategist at Malayan Banking BHD. “Trump continues to adopt a softer approach with China.”

Since his entry into office, the Republican chief has given the Chinese application Tiktok a suspended from an immediate American ban and has minimized concerns about the national security risks of the platform. He threatened Beijing with lower prices than Canada and Mexico, and welcomed vice -president Han Zheng during his inauguration – the first time a senior Chinese official witnessed an American president.

Trump has reason to avoid alienating Beijing with early commercial salvas, while trying to convince Russian president Vladimir Putin – a diplomatic partner close to Xi – to end the war in Ukraine. “They have a lot of power on this situation,” said Trump about China during a video address on Thursday at the Davos World Economic Forum.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said that there were “huge common interests” between the United States and China on Friday during a regular press point in Beijing. “The two parties should intensify dialogue and consultation,” she added.

Trump’s latest comments came to a large conversation that also discussed other immediate worldwide challenges he faced during his first week in power. The American president threatened to impose additional “massive” financial sanctions on Russia if she did not go to the negotiating table to put an end to her war in Ukraine, described the management of Iran as “religious zelites And said that he also planned to reach out to the North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un.

The president praised Kim, saying that the North Korean leader “happens to be an intelligent guy” and is not a “religious fanatic” like the leaders of Iran. Trump said he was planning to reach out Kim.

Although Kim has not directly appointed Trump since his electoral victory, the North Korean state media previously brought comments from the chief of the nation by saying that discussions with the United States during the first mandate of Trump N ‘had served only to confirm Washington’s “unchangable” hostility.

Trump had harder words for the Vladimir Putin of Russia, threatening “massive” prices and major new sanctions if he did not settle war. “I don’t want to do that, but we have to end this war,” he said.

While Trump attacked Beijing on his green exports, calling his “horrible” wind turbines and mockers of the Chinese manufacturing solar fields as “ridiculous”, he also reiterated his admiration for Xi Jinping.

“I had an excellent relationship with him before the cochery,” he said. “It is a very ambitious country. He is a very ambitious man.
