President Donald Trump has now ordered several government agencies to develop plans to redirect federal funds in order to extend the choice of school.

“Parents want and deserve the best education for their children. But too many children do not thrive in their K-12 school assigned and managed by the government,” said Trump in the decree.

He ordered labor and education secretaries to review their discretionary grant programs and to subject plans to “expand freedom of education for American families and teachers”.

Trump ordered the Secretary of Education, within 60 days, to publish advice on states on how they can use federal funds to support the school choice. The ordinance also orders the Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth, to submit a plan describing how the funds of the Ministry of Defense can be used to allow the families of the military to send their children to the schools of their choice.

Among other things, the order also called for a greater school choice at the Bureau of Indian Education and to the Secretary of Health and Social Services to explore whether the block subsidies for children and families can be redirected to “extend the educational choice ”.

The two largest teachers’ unions in the country, the National Education Association (NEA) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), condemned executive action.

Randi Weingarten, president of AFT, told NPR that she was “disappointed” that Trump called for such a broad reuse of the discretionary funds of government agencies to private education.

“It is a direct attack on all parents and families and children who are really going (public schools),” she said.

Edchice, a group that supports the expansion of the school’s choice, celebrated this decision.

“The executive decree of President Trump to prioritize and develop the programs of school choice is a crucial step towards the empowerment of families and give them greater control over the education of their children,” wrote Robert Enow, president and chef of the management of Edchoice, in a press release.

The Senate has not yet planned a confirmation hearing for the candidate of the Trump’s Education Secretary, Linda McMahon, the former WWE business manager. She Expressed support For the choice of school at the beginning of the month.
