President Trump’s first sales manager defended the aggressive administration’s aggressive tariff movements on Tuesday, arguing before a senatorial committee that the US economy faced “a moment of radical and late change” after decades of restraint by the financial sector and government expenses.
Jamieson Greer’s remarks, the United States’s trade representative, came while the Trump administration was faced with a return of orders from business partners, businesses and investors on Mr. Trump’s approach. The movements of the president this month to impose a global rate of 10% and “reciprocal” rates raised on dozens of countries have already sparked a trade war with China and have pushed to other countries to establish their own reprisals. Economists now consider an increasingly likely recession.
Trump rejected these concerns and said that he would not recede his commercial program, which, according to him, is necessary to return manufacturing and industrial production to the United States. He and his economic advisers said that countries demanded new trade agreements with the United States and reduce its prices and other trade barriers.
In an article on social networks on Tuesday, Trump described an appeal to the acting president of South Korea, Han Duck-Soo, about trade and prices and that South Korean officials went to the United States for interviews. He also expressed optimism as to the abolition of a trade war with China.
“China also wants to conclude an agreement, but they don’t know how to start,” said Trump. “We are waiting for their appeal. It will happen! ”
Greer said in his prepared remarks that nearly 50 countries have approached him to discuss the way of “reciprocating on trade”.
