Trump names Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson and Jon Voight ambassadors to ‘troubled’ Hollywood

No, it’s not the cast of “Expendables 5.”

President-elect Donald Trump on Thursday named three longtime supporters — actors Sylvester Stallone, Mel Gibson and Jon Voight — as “special ambassadors to Hollywood,” apparently to help boost business in “struggling” Tinseltown.

“(They will be) special ambassadors to a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California,” Trump, 78, wrote on Truth Social.

“They will serve as my special envoys in an effort to bring Hollywood, which has lost a lot of business over the past four years to foreign countries, BACK – BIGGER, BETTER AND STRONGER THAN EVER BEFORE!”

The stars’ actual duties were not immediately clear, but Trump said the trio would be his “eyes and ears” in the film industry, “and I’ll do what they suggest.”

“It will once again, like the United States of America itself, be the golden age of Hollywood!” »

Thursday’s announcement — which comes days before Trump takes office as the 47th president on Monday — is an apparent response to declining U.S. box office revenue following the COVID-19 crisis, as well as to the financial blow caused by the 2023 writers and actors strike.

Overall television and film production in the United States is down 26% compared to 2021, according to data from the ProdPro platform.

Stallone, Gibson and Voight are all avid Trump fans, unlike the majority of Hollywood celebrities, who overwhelmingly supported Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

In November, Stallone, 78, called Trump the “second George Washington” while introducing him at the America First Policy Institute gala.

“We are in the presence of a truly legendary character. No one in the world could have achieved what he did, so I’m impressed,” the “Rocky” star said at the time.

“When George Washington defended his country, he had no idea that he was going to change the world because, without him, we could imagine what the world would be like. Guess what? We have the second George Washington. Congratulations!”

Gibson, 69, also supported Trump in the 2024 election while disparaging Harris as unintelligent.

“I know what it will be like if we let her in,” the “Braveheart” star told TMZ in October. “It’s not good. A miserable record, a terrible record, no politics to speak of, and she has the IQ of a fence post.

Meanwhile, “Midnight Cowboy” alum Voight, 86, once called Trump “the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln.”

It’s not yet clear whether the trio of right-wing celebrities will attend Trump’s inauguration in Washington, DC, on Monday.
