Trump is expected to reveal his vice presidential pick on Monday.

MILWAUKEE — Former President Donald Trump is expected He revealed his choice for a running mate Monday as the Republican National Convention opens here.

Fox News’ Bret Baier reported Monday morning that Trump confirmed the plans to him in a phone interview.

“Yes, we’re having the vice president today,” Baier said. “And he said there’s more to come. I don’t know what that means.”

A Trump campaign official declined to comment on the matter when asked for comment.

Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, is focusing on three finalists: Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and Gov. Doug Burgum of North Dakota. But the selection process has been closely watched by the former president and his top advisers, and everything from the timing to who he chooses depends largely on Trump himself.

The assassination attempt on Trump at his rally Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania, could have changed the timeline or shifted the search in other directions. But Monday’s announcement coincides with the timing he has long preferred for presenting his choice at the convention.

In the days leading up to the Pennsylvania rally, Trump conducted a series of final interviews with the finalists, three sources familiar with the discussions told NBC News.

Vance and Rubio met with Trump in person at his Mar-a-Lago resort, a source familiar with the meetings said. Burgum spoke with Trump by phone, two sources familiar with the conversation said. ABC News first reported the meetings.
