Trump hangs up on NPR when challenged over election demands, calls Mitch McConnell “loser”

Former President Donald Trump has said most Republicans in the Senate do not look into his stolen election claims because “Mitch McConnell is a loser.”

The GOP leader’s search came during an NPR interview in which Mr. Trump abruptly hung up after being challenged over a series of his unproven claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him.

When asked why many of his former allies in the Senate do not agree with his claims, Mr. Trump replied, “because Mitch McConnell is a loser.”

“Frankly Mitch McConnell, if he was on the other side and [Senate Majority Leader Charles] Schumer was put in his shoes, he would have fought this like you’ve never seen him before, ”Trump said in Tuesday’s telephone interview. “It’s far from over.”

Mr. Trump’s insistence on stealing the 2020 election was rebuffed this week by Senator Mike Rounds. The South Dakota Republican said the election was fair and continuing to spread the lie would damage the GOP brand.

Mr. Trump objected to this, saying, “I think it’s an advantage. … Otherwise, they will start over in [2022] and [2024]. “

Mr Trump refused to accept the election results after seeing courts, including judges he appointed, file lawsuits challenging the results in various states.

A high-profile audit of election results in Arizona’s Maricopa County also confirmed President Biden’s victory there, according to county officials.

Mr Trump said Arizona Republicans accepted the findings because they were a “RINO group.”
