Trump freezes dozens of research subsidies at Princeton University

The Trump administration has suspended dozens of federal research subsidies at Princeton University, Christopher L. Eisgruber, president of Ivy League University, announced on Tuesday.

Agency subsidies such as the Ministry of Energy, NASA and the Ministry of Defense have been interrupted, according to a message on the scale of the Eisgruber campus.

“We are committed to fighting anti -Semitism and all forms of discrimination, and we will cooperate with the government in the fight against anti -Semitism,” said Eisgruber, “Princeton will also vigorously defend academic freedom and the rights to regular procedure of this university.”

“The complete justification of this action is not yet clear,” he added.

Princeton Hault’s funding marks Trump’s latest repression on an increasing list of elite universities faced with similar federal funding threats, some on anti -Semitism allegations on the campus.

On Monday, a federal working group on anti -Semitism announced a radical examination of nearly $ 9 billion in Harvard federal subsidies and federal contracts.

Earlier this month, Columbia University agreed with a series of federal requests, including stricter protest regulations and an extended presence of campus security, after the government frozen $ 400 million in grants and warned that billions of others could be in danger. After the freezing of Columbia funding, the American Association of University Professors and the American teachers’ Federation continued the Trump administration, saying that the cuts ended the fetal health subsidies, Alzheimer’s disease and Cancer in Columbia.

Princeton’s endowment value amounts to $ 34.1 billion in late 2024 and generated an investment gain of 3.9% in the previous year.

Eisgruber recently wrote a test in the Atlantic saying that targeting by the Trump administration of universities like Columbia presents “the greatest threat to American universities since the red fear of the 1950s”.
