Trump forced to hear scathing criticism from prospective jurors

During the first week of Donald Trump’s criminal trial in Manhattan, the former president was forced to sit back and listen to the honest, unfiltered opinions of “haters.” Trump, who usually surrounds himself with Yes manis forced to sit quietly — without gesturing or using his phone — while potential jurors share their thoughts about him.

During the first three days of jury selection, Trump was described as a racist, sexist and narcissist, Politico reported. He was shown social media posts asking authorities to “lock him up”.

A person who called him “very selfish and self-serving” is also now among 12 New Yorkers selected to rule on Trump’s fate. “The way he presents himself in public seems to me… not my cup of tea,” this juror said.

Trump does not seem to have particularly appreciated this moment. After being called selfish, MSNBCYasmin Vossoughian of Yasmin Vossoughian reported: “It appears the former president doesn’t like that answer, leaning back, crossing his arms upon hearing these opinions about him.”

But this juror was not alone in his assessment, which was aired in front of the former president. “I don’t have any strong opinions about him, but I don’t like his personality,” one prospective juror said. “That doesn’t mean I can’t be fair and impartial.”

The court was able to select 12 jurors at a pace that surprised observers — even after one selected juror withdrew, citing publicity surrounding his participation. Another selected juror was dismissed because prosecutors feared he was dishonest when he answered a jury selection question by saying he had never been accused or convicted of a crime.

Ultimately, a dozen of Trump’s peers decide whether to convict him on 34 counts of falsifying business records as part of an effort to cover up a sex scandal before the 2016 election.
