Trump, continue to make America great

A man in the death corridor in Florida took advantage of his last opportunity to share a message with the world on Thursday to show his support for President Donald Trump.

“President Trump, continues to make America great. I am ready to leave,” said Glen Rogers, 62, said a few moments before receiving a lethal injection.

Rogers was executed for the murder in 1995 of a 34 -year -old mother whom he had met in a bar.

In his final statement, Rogers also thanked his wife, who visited him earlier during the day in prison, according to visitors’ newspapers. He also said a little cryptically that “in the near future, your questions will be answered” without going into details.

Lethal injection started after his message to Trump, and he remained quietly through the procedure.

The execution took place at Florida State Prison near Starke. Rogers was declared dead at 6:16 p.m., the authorities said.

Rogers, an alleged serial killer once examined for a possible link with the OJ Simpson affair in the 1990s, was put to death for the murder of Tina Marie Cribbs.

Cribbs and Rogers met in a bar. She was found dead in a Motel Tampa room.

Rogers had also aroused a separate death sentence in California for the 1995 strangle murder of Sandra Gallagher, a mother of three he had met in a bar in Van Nuys, California. This murder occurred for weeks before the murder of Cribbs. Rogers was arrested after a road prosecution in Kentucky by driving the Cribbs car shortly after his death.

Rogers was appointed suspect but has never been sentenced to several other killers across the country, saying to the police once he had killed around 70 people. He then retracted this declaration, but had been the subject of documentaries including one of 2012 entitled “My brother the serial killer” who featured his brother Clay and a criminal profiler who had largely corresponding to Rogers.

The documentary raised questions about the question of whether Rogers could have been responsible for the 1994 dawn of the ex-wife of Simpson Nicole Brown Simpson and his friend Ron Goldman.

During a trial for murder in 1995 which drew attention to the intense media, the former football star and celebrity Simpson was acquitted of all the accusations. Police and Los Angeles prosecutors later declared after the release of the documentary that they did not think that Rogers had an involvement in the murders of Simpson and Goldman.

“We know who killed Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. We have no reason to believe that Mr. Rogers was involved,” Los Angeles police said in a statement at the time.

Simpson had always professed innocence but was then tried responsible for deaths in a separate civil affair, then purged nine years in prison for unrelated accusations. Simpson, 76, died in April 2024 after fighting cancer.

Rogers, from Hamilton, Ohio, had also been labeled “Casanova Killer” or “Cross Country Killer” in various media reports. Some of his alleged and proven victims had similar characteristics: ages in their thirties, a small setting and red hair.

A few hours before its execution, Rogers woke up at 3:45 a.m. and then received a visitor, said spokesperson for the ministry of Correctional Services Ted Veerman. He said Rogers had a meal of pizza, chocolate and soda.

The United States Supreme Court rejected Rogers endless calls on Wednesday without comment.

Rogers’ lawyers have placed several calls to national and federal courts, none has succeeded. An argument was that the newly promulgated state legislation authorizing the death penalty for the trafficking of young children clearly indicates that the abuses he suffered as a child is now taken seriously and should lead to a prison sentence for Rogers. This argument was rejected.

Florida uses a cocktail with three drugs for its lethal injection: a sedative, a paralytic and a drug that stops the heart, according to the Correctional Services department.

Rogers has become the fifth detainee put to death in Florida this year.

Anthony Wainwright is the next Florida prisoner scheduled for execution – June 10 – under a death mandate signed by Republican Governor Ron Desantis. Wainwright, 54, was found guilty of having removed a woman from a supermarket parking lot in Lake City in 1994 and to violate and kill her.
