Trump, Asked About Revenge, Says Biden ‘Could Be a Convicted Felon’

Former President Donald J. Trump, responding to a question about his repeated vow to prosecute his political enemies if elected, made the same suggestion again — saying President Biden could be indicted and convicted of crimes after he leaves office.

Mr. Biden then lashed out at Mr. Trump over his felony convictions in New York, his other pending criminal cases and the civil cases that resulted in hefty financial penalties against him.

“Joe could be a convicted felon with everything he’s done,” Mr. Trump said, referring to his policies on the border and Ukraine. He then added: “This man is a criminal. This man, you are lucky. You’re in luck. I did not do anything wrong. We would have a rigged and disgusting system. I did not do anything wrong. »

Mr Biden, visibly angered by Mr Trump’s remarks, denounced the former president’s desire for revenge and highlighted Mr Trump’s many legal troubles.

“The crimes that you’re still charged with — and think about all the civil penalties that you’re facing,” Biden said. “How many billions of dollars do you owe in civil penalties for assaulting a woman in public, for doing a whole range of things, for having sex with a porn star at night while your wife was pregnant? What are you talking about? You’ve got the morals of an alley cat.”

Mr. Trump also sought to defend his actions and those of his supporters during the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, saying the Biden administration had “destroyed the lives of so many people” convicted in the attack. He again suggested that members of the House committee investigating the matter “should go to jail.”

He also discussed the recent felony conviction of Mr. Biden’s son, Hunter.

“When he talks about a convicted felon,” Mr. Trump said, “his son was a convicted felon at a very high level.”
