President Donald Trump’s favorite candidate and Elon Musk for the Supreme Court of Wisconsin lost, but the two men say they have won a great victory anyway.
The republican campaign in Wisconsin has led to changes in the identification of state voters. Tuesday, Wisconsin voters approved an amendment to the constitution of the State forcing voters to use the identification of the photos.
“The Democrats fought against this, probably so that they can cheat. It is a great victory for the Republicans, perhaps the biggest victory of the evening,” Trump wrote in a social article on Tuesday.
“It was the most important thing,” Musk wrote on X Wednesday morning, referring to the changes to the constitution of the Wisconsin.
Trump and Musk approved the conservative judge Brad Schimel, who lost against the liberal judge of Dane Susan Crawford.
“I expected to lose myself, but there is value to lose a piece for a position gain,” said Musk in a later article on X Wednesday.
At the time of the press, Trump did not publicly comment on the outcome of the Supreme Wisconsin Court elections. The Supreme Wisconsin Court has a liberal majority of 4-3. A Schimel victory would have led to an ideological realignment of the court bench.
“For the Supreme Court of the State, be sure to vote for America First Patriot, Brad Schimel, against Susan Crawford, a radical left liberal, with a story of leaving attackers and children’s rapists,” Trump wrote on Tuesday.
In addition to approving Schimel, the Musk Super PAC, America PAC, spent more than $ 12 million to support it. Musk also offered $ 100 to Wisconsin voters who signed a petition opposing “militant judges”.
Musk held a town hall in the Wisconsin on Sunday where he gave a million dollars to two supporters. Musk first said that the million dollars was a lottery price for signing his petition. He later said that payment was compensation for the winners to be a spokesperson during the event.
The election of the Supreme Wisconsin Court is the most expensive judicial race in the history of the United States.
From the perspective of the vote, Trump and Musk both declared that devoting the requirements to identify voters in the constitution of the Wisconsin is just as important as to obtain a conservative majority at the Supreme Court of Wisconsin.
“There is a very important referendum (question 1) on the ballot to modify the constitution of the State to demand an identity document of the voters,” wrote Trump in a social article on Tuesday, where he asked the voters to support the amendment and Schimel.
On Sunday, at the City Hall of Musk, the CEO of Tesla and Spacex declared that his personal participation in the vote was summed up in two questions – the judicial majority on the bench of the Supreme Court of Wisconsin and if the state will need an identity document of voters during the surveys.
Musk said these decisions could “affect all the fate of humanity” because they could influence the congress party.
“Whatever the party controls the house, you know, to a large extent, control the country, which then directs the course of Western civilization,” Musk said on Sunday.
Musk was a large part of the Ministry of Efficiency of the Government of the Trump Administration – but it also campaigns for the GOP. During Trump’s race, Musk gave rally speeches at GOP events and spent at least 277 million dollars to support Trump and other GOP candidates.
The White House and Musc did not respond to requests for comments from Business Insider.
