Trump and Melania attend Barron’s graduation after she fails to show up at secret trial

Donald and Melania Trump attended their son Barron Trump’s graduation ceremony together in Florida on Friday, as the former president’s criminal trial over hush money entered its final throes.

The former president and first lady stood in the stands at Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Fla., alongside Mrs. Trump’s father, Viktor Knavs, and other relatives to watch the ceremony. took place in the private school.

Shortly before the ceremony began, Mr. Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, to announce his presence.

“Great student, wonderful boy! Very exciting!!!” Mr. Trump wrote.

The former president’s attendance was not guaranteed after the judge in the secret trial did not immediately grant Mr. Trump permission to attend the ceremony, prompting rants from the former president on Truth Social on last month. Mr. Trump is required to attend his trial proceedings under New York criminal law.

It was the first time Mr Trump had been seen in public with his wife since the trial revealed harrowing details from adult film star Stormy Daniels about her alleged affair with the former president, who allegedly took place after Mr. and Mrs. Trump’s wedding. He denied that this affair ever took place.

The former first lady did not attend her husband’s criminal trial in New York, although her name was brought up this week by Mr. Trump’s former lawyer, Michael Cohen, during his appearance on the stand.

Cohen alleged that it was Ms. Trump who suggested Mr. Trump excuse his sexist language in a leak. Access Hollywood tape as “locker room talk”.

The Manhattan trial is expected to resume Monday.

Shortly after graduation on Friday, Mr. Trump again took advantage of his day off to travel to Minnesota for the Republican Party’s annual Lincoln Reagan dinner.

Barron was one of 116 seniors who graduated from the private school Friday.

The Oxbridge Academy said the graduation ceremony was “private, invitation only” due to “increased interest in this year’s event,” according to USA Today.

“We respectfully request that all media refrain from coming to the school to ensure the safety of our graduates, family members and other guests in attendance,” the school said in a statement obtained by The Palm Beach post.

Trump’s youngest son is expected to attend college in the fall, but it’s unclear where he will go. Mr. Trump recently told guests at Mar-a-Lago that his son was considering several colleges.

The former president did not reveal what field his son would major in or whether he had any career aspirations so far.

Politics could be an option for Barron since he was recently chosen, by the Republican Party of Florida, to be one of the state’s 41 at-large delegates tasked with nominating his father as the Republican presidential candidate in the annual GOP convention.

While Barron was “honored” to be chosen, the former first lady said in a statement that her son, unfortunately, could not attend the convention in July due to “prior commitments.”
