Trump alumni raise millions for legal defense while seeking White House hires

Some of former President Donald Trump’s co-defendants in a Georgia election interference case are receiving legal funding from a charity created to help people accused of trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election, according to people close to the group.

Beneficiaries of the legal fund include John Eastman, a lawyer who advised the Trump campaign on the attempt to throw out electoral votes; Jeffrey Clark, a former Justice Department official who sought to delegitimize the 2020 vote; former Trump campaign official Mike Roman, who coordinated alternate slates of pro-Trump voters; and alternate voters such as former Georgia GOP Chair David Shafer and former Coffee County GOP Chair Cathy Latham. The group also supports Peter Navarro, a former Trump White House adviser who is serving a four-month prison sentence for defying a congressional subpoena.
