Triple H, Nick Khan and Bruce Prichard receive a special gift from Cody Rhodes for winning the first-ever WWE World Title… as the new champion sheds tears while explaining how his late father, Dusty, had the same item

Cody Rhodes has revealed how a group of WWE officials gave him a monumental watch after his victory over Roman Reigns.

Rhodes made WWE history by getting the better of Reigns, ending a reign that had lasted over 1,300 days in a match that featured a number of WWE stars and legends involved in the match.

He showed emotion after the match as his family joined him in the ring to celebrate, along with a number of other WWE stars, alongside him after he became the new WWE Champion. WWE.

Much of the story behind Rhodes’ attempt to win the title was due to the fact that his late father, Dusty Rhodes, had never won the title, and Cody paid tribute to his father after the match, on the ring and after.

At the post-event press conference, Rhodes struggled to hold it together while explaining a gift he received from WWE officials that involved his father.

Rhodes defeated Reigns (right) to become the new WWE Champion, ending his opponent’s reign of just under four years.

He explained how the gift he received was connected to his late father, Dusty (pictured), who died in 2015.

“I came to the back and Bruce Pritchard, Triple H and Nick Khan did this to me. It’s the same watch that my dad had. That he pawned so I could go to school theatre.

“The level of investment and responsibility that the company has just put in my hands, I hope I can repay it, pay it back 100 times more.”

Rhodes got emotional while talking about his father, who played a huge role in his WWE career.

Rhodes made it his mission to somewhat carry on his father’s legacy when he passed away in 2015, adopting “The American Nightmare” as his moniker as a spinoff of Dusty’s “American Dream.”

When he returned to WWE two years ago, he made it clear that his goal was to win the WWE Title, a feat Dusty did not achieve during his career.

Last year he came up short against holder Reigns, but this year he got the better of his rival to win the belt.

Rhodes had made it clear since his return to WWE two years ago that he wanted to win the title.

Rhodes broke down in tears as he discussed his father’s legacy during the post-event press conference.

WWE chief Triple H also took the mic at the press conference and was asked about the significance of the watch.

After joking that Rhodes was a “stooge,” he explained how the gift came about and how it was due to the magnitude of the occasion.

“We wanted to do something special for him,” he said. “It’s a special night for him. The scenario is the end of the story, it’s not something made up, it’s real.

“Bruce was very close to Dusty, I was very close to Dusty. I know what that means to Cody, what this case means to him. He’s the perfect human being.

“It was Nick’s idea. He had this amazing idea. Bruce was just there for a little while. I thought it was awesome, Bruce went and got this watch that was exactly the same as Dusty’s and we just wanted to get him something that would in some way commemorate his dad being there when that happened, because it was.
