This decision took place before the elections of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), probably later this year. Fadnavis said he was convinced that under the leadership of Satam, the party would resume power within the civic body.
SATAM, 49, represents the constituency of the assembly of Andheri West and won this seat for three consecutive terms.
Speaking at the headquarters of the state of the BJP, Fadnavis noted that the party had obtained good results during the elections in the 2024 Maharashtra assembly under the direction of the outgoing unity of Mumbai, Ashish Shelar, who has since taken ministerial responsibilities.
“Following discussions at the state level led by the president of the BJP Ravira Chavan and senior leaders, Ameet Satam was chosen for this position,” said Fadnavis.
He described Satam as a “scholarly and affirmed legislator” who knows the challenges of Mumbai well. “I am convinced that under its direction, the BJP will maintain its dynamics during the municipal elections and will resume power within the BMC,” he added.
Fadnavis also declared that the party, with the support of senior leaders at the level of the state and the city, aimed to establish new references in the next municipal elections.
