Jamalpur (West Bengal): The conflict between the different factions within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) is now taking place openly in the streets. Angry workers and party supporters held a roadblock demanding the impeachment of the chairman of Trinamool Congress (TMC) bloc in Purba Bardhaman district of West Bengal.

The Chakdighi intersection of Memari Tarkeshwar Road at Jamalpur in Purba Bardhaman was blocked by workers and restless Trinamool Congress (TMC) supporters on Saturday night. Mehmood Khan was reappointed as Jamalpur Block Trinamool Congress (TMC) President on the instructions of the party’s senior leadership. This caused discontent in Jamalpur.

The aggrieved local leaders and Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers are refusing to accept Mehmood Khan as bloc president. Their demand is to immediately change the president of the bloc. A group of Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers and supporters held the blockade on Memari Tarakeswar Road in the evening to demand it.

“A person does not have a position here. Mehmood Khan is the chairman of Jamalpur Panchayat Samiti and chairman of the Block Trinamool Congress (TMC). We don’t accept it. The senior leadership of the party must listen to our demands. Otherwise, we will sit on the dharna,” Chakdighi Panchayat leader Gaur Sundar Mondal told the media.

“He is an incompetent president. He became bloc president by blackmail. After the assembly elections, we expected this president to be replaced before the panchayat elections. But the party did not listen to our claims. Every district has a good-looking president. But we haven’t had such a president here,” he added.

However, Mehmood Khan has yet to speak to the media about it.
